badmils black: true tyrolean spirit

As you can see from the numerous videos dedicated to it, I have never hidden my feelings for the Badmils Black Distillery (better known as my favorite Tyrolean distillery). In twenty years of activity, this little Alpine star has managed to surprise us enthusiasts time and time again, presenting bottlings that combine tradition, technique, and a good dose of personality.

On November 14, the Badmils team organized a tasting with all the trimmings at the Claymore Whisky Club in Innsbruck, a place that for many of us is now synonymous with intense evenings, shared drinks, and endless conversations about our favorite spirit.

From the moment we walked in, it was clear that this was not just a simple “tasting,” but a real journey. Heinz and Hugo immersed us in their vision, recounting production choices, interesting facts about the aging process, and anecdotes related to the creation of their whisky. Their passion and sincerity, which are difficult to find elsewhere, are one of the distinctive features of the distillery.

The tasting experience proved to be surprising: more mature aromatic profiles, a few unexpected notes here and there, and that sensory signature that I would recognize even with my eyes closed. A real feast for the senses.

The surprise of the evening was the expression matured entirely in Oloroso casks: full, enveloping, a small symphony of sweetness and depth. In the image gallery below, you will find the menu for the evening, just to give you an idea of the bottles tasted.

That said, I can only reiterate my enthusiasm for Badmils Black products. When tradition and passion come together, the result is unparalleled.
